Not Just Beers And Burgers | Wholesome Lunch Menu At The Irish House | Food Review

The Irish House is especially famous for its beers and burgers. But now,I daresay, it will be equally famous for being a value for money corporate hangout. Their lunch menu is perfect for a quick delicious lunch during office break and oh so easy on the pocket too. I am glad I got a chance to review it :)

Walked in The Irish House Kala Ghoda outlet on a lazy tuesday afternoon. The funky artworks, witty drinking quotes, Irish knick-knacks, wooden work interspersed with Shamrock green colours lend a specific vibrant character to the place. A photo session worthy place this is, as my sister, the photographer in the family, vouches. Staff is quick on their feet and know the menu inside-out, making life easy for us. The lunch menu is replete with equal no. of options for both veggies and non-veggies, choose from appetizer, main course and a side dish, all for Rs. 275 in Veg and Rs. 325 in Non-Veg.

Trust me, the quantity is more than generous and 2 light eaters will need to share one meal, making it complete value for money. You can pair it with beer or sangria too at nominal extra cost. We are teetotallers so we asked for Sweet Lime Soda which was a refreshing beginning and served in a huge glass (Remember the Punjabi Lassi glasses? This is their Irish version :D)

The first meal we tried was Falafel with Spicy Hummus, Herb Crusted Cottage Cheese Steak with Peperonate Rice and Cream Cheese Sauce, Grilled Veggies. Ravishing Cottage Cheese and juicy veggies were my favorite bits.

Next up was Grilled Peri Peri Cottage Cheese, Eggplant Parmigiana with Sauteed Veggies and Paprika Sauce, Cheese Garlic Bread. Marination of cottage cheese was perfect and garlic bread was very crunchy.

We also tried a bit of a third meal our friend was having, with Jalapeno Poppers, Spinach Corn Cake with Mustard Cream Sauce and Fungi Sauce, Homemade Potato Wedges. Potato wedges were delightful while mushroom fungi rice is a must have for mushroom lovers.

Look at the pictures to see how huge these meals are, and the quality of ingredients is top notch. They respect their ingredients so everything retains its inherent flavor and accompanying cheese, dips, sauces are used only to enhance it. So Hummus was extremely refreshing with just a bit of spice enhancement, peperonate rice was tangy with cream cheese sauce making it velvety smooth. Eggplant was made crispier while paprika sauce made it wholesome (I do no like eggplant at all but this was good!), Jalapeno poppers were tangy as they should be and the Spinach corn cake was the softest item present, absolute melt-in-mouth.

Usually, in our modern busy lifestyles we end up having only burgers or sandwiches as lunch items on most days. Lucky us that we have so many food delivery options as well as so many health food places springing up too. I am going to put down The Irish House lunch menu as a viable option with unique, filling, wholesome items that include the whole nutrients spectrum (carbs, proteins, vitamins it is all there!) at extremely down to earth price point in a chilled out ambiance. Why settle for a burger everyday when I can feast on cottage steak or spinach & corn cakes on any given weekday :)
