Party Time At One Street Over Mumbai | Celebrate Life | Food Review | Restaurant Review

Dynamic Duo of Chef Kelvin Cheung and Chef Boo Kwang Kim rustle up a culinary storm in this gastropub with ample focus on local produce, seasonal varieties and health options for every kind of palate,be it traditional or adventurous.

We walked in 2 hours late thanks to insane festival traffic but the incredibly warm hospitality accorded by the staff made us feel like royalty :) Chef Kelvin Cheung himself made us feel welcome and shared some of his most special creations. Every dish is simple yet elegant, little twists elevating them to something memorable. Ambiance is rocking, even though the place is a bit small, the amazing 90s and early 00s music, comfortable seating, energetic crowd and a cohesive mix of the best in drinks and food reminiscent of the best contemporary trends in the world make One Street Over the perfect stop for a night out with friends. Prices a bit high but looking at the location, innovative menu and general bonhomie, quite understandable.

We started with drinks Scofflow - Jim Bean, Dry Vermouth, Grenadine, Lime (mine) and Painkiller- Rums, Fresh OJ, Fresh Pineapple, Coconut Cream, Grated Nutmeg (my sister). In fact,we just told the bartender that my sister wanted something strong yet fruity while I needed something sweeter with less alcohol and he did the needful. I say, just blindly go with their suggestions here. We also had 2 mocktails, one with refreshing watermelon flavor and other with pineapple, mint, cucumber and pomegranate. Both outstanding :)

When it comes to dishes, Chefs ensure that each ingredient gets a prominent role instead of getting lost in smoke and mirrors. Distinct textures and flavors are boosted by beautiful plating.

Nachos,Wonton Crisps, Refried Beans, Jalapeno Cheese Sauce is how anyone should start their meal everyday with the nachos and wontons being simply out of this world. Unlike other places, beans and cheese are used sparingly here which makes it a crispy treat.

Truffle Fries,White Truffle Oil, Parmesan, Scallions are a must for intense, deep, dark mushroom flavor lovers, a big bowl to be shared between 3 people at least, every fry perfect.

Kung Pao Broccoli, Peanuts, Chilies, Hoisin Sauce was the 1st Star Dish of the night. Know someone who hates Broccoli? Let them have this. Slightly on the sweeter side, this dish is neither fried nor greasy,so health freaks please join me in relishing it again & again :)

Tofu Bao, Chili Soy Garlic, Gunpowder, Housemade Jiardenara Relish- I am usually not a big Tofu fan and my sister is not a Bao fan, but the genius of this dish,my personal favorite one, is the Indian twist that makes it more than masterchef worthy. Chef Kelvin Cheung loves South Indian delicacies and incorporates Gunpowder here to give the perfect spicy twist to the sweetness of Tofu with Caramelized Onions. Pure Love!

Potato Skin Mac n Cheese, Chives, Sour Cream, Truffle Oil- A strong dish which will either be loved or hated. Mac n Cheese is usually loved by all (except for nuts like my family) and this one is pretty authentic boosted with dense truffle flavor and really crispy potato base. Not something on my personal must-have list but I can see many people going crazy over it. Especially if you are planning to get tipsy, dig in to let the starch & cheese absorb all the alcohol!

Burrata, Broccoli, Cheddar Crumble, Cheddar Vinaigrette - Burrata is sometimes called the best cheese in the world. This dish surely makes it easy to understand the reason behind that :) Created to invoke memories of the warm embrace of homemade soup, I loved the cold and creamy smooth texture. A novel experience that deserves an adventurous palate.

Falafel, Black Bean Hummus, Goat Cheese, Red Peppers- Surprise 2nd Star Dish, an unanimous favorite on our table with wholesome flavors and a cooling touch provided by the Hummus as well as Red Peppers.*

Paneer Tacos - Usually Tacos have a hard/ crispy base but this one is served on a soft one which is just fine as the minced soft Paneer is delicious enough for me to gobble it down any time :D

Vanilla Man Bun - A sweet dish big enough to be shared among 3 hungry souls. In fact, 2 light eaters can make a complete meal out of this. Sometimes words fail to describe something accurately and that is what I am experiencing right now. Imagine soft bread buns infused with chocolate, generously stuffed vanilla custard cheese ice-cream, huge sprinkling of chocolate chips, nuts, chocolate sauce. Imagine every bite laden with a bit of all of these. Imagine heaven. Enough said.

Many factors come together to create a memorable meal. Food, Drinks, Service, Ambiance. Getting the top notch in every department at One Street Over makes it a worthwhile destination. We will be right back. After all, it is just One Street Over :D
